Freedom Rock Christian Fellowship Church will have their 2009 campmeeting beginning Monday night. Every night will have a different focus, and the first night deals with Meridian young people.
"We decided to have a night for teenagers because they need it," said Craig Tucker, Pastor of Freedom Rock. "There are so many things happening with the youth in the community, so I think it's important to have a night for them. Sometimes they need to know that they can be focused on."
The last three nights will feature guest speakers hand picked for each night.
"With the speakers we were just trying to have something for everyone. We tried to have a mixture of people that could come to our church and reach a diverse group of people," Tucker said.
The speakers for the last three nights will be Meridian's Zachary Operton, Dr. Tommy O'Dell of Tulsa, Okla., and Laura Pickett from Atlanta.
The scripture of focus is Isaiah 43:18-19.
"The scripture says, 'Behold, I will do a new thing' and we chose the verse because when things get to where they are now in the world, you have to look forward to new and better things," Tucker said. "I believe with all that has gone on and is happening I think that God wants to do some fresh things."
The campmeeting will be at the church located at 5718 5th street, and will be at 7 p.m. nightly.
The event is free and everyone is welcomed to attend. For more information, call (601)693-0502.

Productive pain
One of my favorite writers, C.S. Lewis, says, “…but pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
