Doris Jeanette Lisenbe

MERIDIAN —

    Services for Doris Jeanette Lisenbe will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church in Bailey. Dr. Roy McNeill will be officiating and Bobby Swearingen will provide special music. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Lisenbe, 93, of Bailey, passed away Friday, Dec. 7 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center - North Campus. She was a longtime member of Bethel Methodist Church and teacher at West Lauderdale Elementary School. She will always be remembered as a teacher who loved teaching, loved her students and loved West Lauderdale Elementary. In her spare time she enjoyed planting flowers and working in her yard. She will also be remembered for her crocheting, which was sold to provide funds to the church's missionary programs. She was also a member of the Centerhill- Obadiah Homemakers Club. As a lady whose life was full, she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

    Survivors include her husband of 67 years, John L. Lisenbe; daughter, Lola Claire Murphy (Marlan) of Bailey; son, John L. Lisenbe Jr. (Teresa) of Meridian; brother, Tobia Gibson of Butler, Ala.; and sister Clara Ozment (Buck) of Gardendale, Ala.

    She is also survived by her grandchildren, Glenn Murphy, Jeffery Murphy (Tera), Amy Semmes (Michael), John N. Lisenbe , Sarah Lisenbe and two great grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to your local Gideons.
