Leland Alger Goodman

MERIDIAN —     Services for Rev. Leland Alger Goodman will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Buccatunna Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Hayes, Rev. Doug Goodman, and Rev. Grady Crowell officiating. Burial will be in the Old Buccatunna Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Rev. Goodman, 89, of Meridian, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center- North Campus. He was a retired minister having served 68 years as a Minister of the Gospel, having served 13 years as a pastor in Moab, Utah and 33 years at Mont Rose in Clarke County. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

    Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Vivian Carolyn Singley Goodman; son, Stanley Goodman; granddaughters: Kim Quigley and husband John Edward, and Erica Goodman; grandsons: Jeff Goodman and wife Lisa, Shane Goodman and wife Christine, Barry Goodman, and Grant Goodman; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy Goodman; and, sisters: Druscilla Stewart and Glenda Faye Evans.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Minnie Goodman; and, two sons: Terry Goodman and Timothy Goodman.

    Pallbearers will be Jeff Goodman, Shane Goodman, Barry Goodman, Grant Goodman, Daniel Richards, Austin Quigley and John Quigley.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Stroke Association.

    There will be no visitation.
