    Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Shields were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Russell officiating.  Interment was held at Magnolia Cemetery.  James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Shields, age 86, of Meridian passed away on January 15, 2013 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.  She was retired from Riley Memorial Hospital after serving as the Head Nurse in the surgery unit.  She was a member of the Mississippi Board of Nursing, Mississippi Nursing Association, and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.  She was given the nickname “Hutch” by her grandchildren from all the games they played.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Grandmother/Great grandmother.

    She is survived by her Son, Walter Jerry Shields and his wife Cathy of Collinsville; Grandchildren, Shana Shields McCants and her husband John and Jeremy Wade Shields; and her Great Grandchildren, Jay Noble McCants, Anna Shields McCant, Kamryn Slay Shields, and Katie Grace Shields.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, James Luther and Annie Virginia Lummus; and by her husband Walter “Boo” Shields.

    Pallbearers are to be Glen Dees, John McCants, Jeremy Shields, Terry Winstead, Billy McInnis and Lamar McKenzie.

    Visitation was held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home from 1 – 2 p.m.
