Grady Earl Hinson

MERIDIAN —



    A memorial service for Grady Earl Hinson will be held Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at First Christian Church with Dr. Tom Sikes and Rev. Lea McCracken officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Hinson, 70, of Meridian entered the Church Triumphant at 4 a.m., on Monday, August 13, 2012. He was born in Meridian on January 10, 1942. He attended Meridian Public Schools. While attending Meridian High School, he played football, basketball and baseball where he was recruited and played Triple A baseball for the Cleveland Indians. Mr. Hinson was retired from James River paper mill. He also owned and operated Hinson Hardwood Flooring before retiring.

    He was a member of First Christian Church where he loved to work the Kentucky Ham Meal. He loved volunteering his time to the American Cancer Society of Meridian where he served in 2010 as co-chair for Relay for Life. He loved his many special pets, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and Mississippi State football. He loved his family, his friends, and his church. He lived life to the fullest. He will be missed.

    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Edwards Hinson; daughter, Terri McKelvaine and son-in-law, Mike McKelvaine; son, Tyler Hinson and daughter-in-law, Tiffany Hinson; grandchildren: Chloe McKelvaine, Tyler, Saylor and Hayes Hinson; siblings: Emma Jo Simmons and husband Bob, Jeanette Williams and husband Larry, and Rod Garrison; and, nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his mother and dad.

    The family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church or The American Cancer Society.

    Visitation will be Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the church.
