Joe E. Brunson

MERIDIAN —

    UNION - Services for Joe E. Brunson will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with Revs. Jon Martin and Marcus Finch officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Brunson, 84, of Union, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He loved being outdoors. His favorite outdoor activities included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was an active board member of Union Riding Club and was an active mule puller. Mr. Brunson loved his community and was elected Citizen of the Year in 2010. He was also an active member of First Baptist Church of Union. Mr. Brunson will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Essie Brunson of Union; two daughters: Janice Muse and husband James D. of Byram, and Janet Shealy and husband Donald L. of Byram; one son, Alan Brunson and wife Dawn of Madison; five grandchildren: Brian Muse and wife Jennifer of Florence, Chad Shealy and wife Shanon of Raymond, Wes Muse of Florence, Reed Brunson of Madison, and Lori Brunson of Madison; seven great-grandchildren: Grayson, Mayson, and Riggs Shealy of Raymond, Braydon, Brantley, and Brelyn Muse of Florence, and Aubree Muse of Florence; two sisters: Rachel Leach of Union, and Bernice Lofton of Newton; and one brother, Bobby Brunson of Pearl.

    He was preceded in death by his brother, James Brunson.

    Pallbearers will be Brian Muse, Chad Shealy, Reed Brunson, Wes Muse, Jamie Brunson, Randy Brunson, Danny Brunson, and David Lofton.

    Mr. Joe E. Brunson loved being outdoors. His favorite outdoor activities included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was an active board member of Union Riding Club and was an active mule puller. Mr. Brunson loved his community and was elected Citizen of the Year in 2010.     Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
