PHILADELPHIA — Services for Doris Louella Ward will be held today at 1 p.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward, 62, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James Ward; daughters, Linda Creekmore and Dorothy Boyd; sons, Wayne Ward, James O’Neal Ward and Billy Ward; four sisters; two brothers; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Americo Bonito
Retired
Funeral services for Americo Bonito will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Bonito, 85, of Meridian, died Monday, Oct. 1. 2007 at Guardian Angel Nursing Home.
He was born in the Saxonville area of Framingham, Mass., son of the now late Emilio and Olympia Bonito, he graduated from Framingham High where he served as Captain of the football team.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and served in World War II.
He was an avid football and baseball fan and for many years he coached a “Little League” baseball team in Framingham. He worked at Hodgman Rubber company in Framingham and also worked for many years for the Town Of Framingham prior to moving to Meridian in 1971.
He worked for and retired from the Matty Hersey Hospital in Meridian. After retirement he set up a wood working shop at his home and enjoyed making various projects for many friends and the general public. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder for several years. He also elected to clean up and maintain the Mt. Carmel Cemetery for many years.
Survivors include his wife of more than 55 years, Allene Sanderford Bonito of Meridian; a step-son, Charles A. Smith and his wife, Mary, of Natick, Mass.; a brother, Arthur A. Bonito of Ashland Mass.; nephews, Arthur Bonito Jr. Raleigh, N.C. and Richard Bonito in Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy Bonito and sisters, Edith King and Florence Bonito.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Maintenance Fund.
John Douglas Brogan
Services for John Douglas Brogan will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Brogan, 64, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He was a member of Meridian Hamasa Shrine. He worked several years with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
Survivors include his son, Johnny Brogan and his wife, Keri, of Wilsonville, Ala.; a granddaughter, Jessica Brogan; his mother, Evelyn Brogan of Meridian; brothers, Tommy Brogan Sr. and his wife, Gayle of Meridian and Jackie Brogan and his wife, KayDee, of Grenada.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy D. Brogan.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Brogan Jr., Lyle Brogan, Patrick Brogan, Steve Brogan, Billy Harper and Johnny Sneed.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Faithy Reynolds Knight
PHILADELPHIA — Services for Faithy Reynolds Knight will be held Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Louisville with the Rev. Arthur Story officiating. Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in the House Community of Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Knight, 91, died Saturday, September 29, 2007, in Texas. She was born October 6, 1915, in the House Community of Neshoba County. She and her now late husband, Joseph Lavelle Knight, lived in Louisville from 1947 until his death in 2003. She then moved to Houston, Texas in January 2004, to be close to her daughter, Faye Knight Fancher.
Mrs. Knight was an active member of First Baptist Church in Louisville for more 50 years, teaching Sunday School in the Children Division for many years. She was also active in the Women’s Missionary Union.
Survivors include her daughter; Faye Fancher and her husband, Emmett of Houston, Texas; her son, Jeff Knight and his wife, Marcella, of Davenport, Okla.; five grandchildren, Don Fancher and his wife, Tess, of Atlanta, Jeff Fancher and his wife, Linda, of Annandale, N.J., Jeff Knight, Jr. of San Francisco, Joseph “Joey” Knight of El Reno, Okla., Maranda Knight of Overland Park, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Fancher, Will Fancher, Tate Fancher, Lauren Fancher and Lindsey Fancher.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Joseph Lavelle Knight ; her parents, Tom and Louetta Reynolds and her sister, Eva Mae Rush.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Wilburn D. Moffett

Services for Wilburn D. Moffett will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chris Winkleman and Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moffett, 78, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He retired after 25 years from Peavey Electronics.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Jackie” Moffett of Meridian; a daughter, Donna R. Moffett of Pearl; a son, Mitchell W. Moffett and his wife, Teresa, of Meridian; sisters, Clarice Davidson and Daisey Fisher, both of Meridian; his brother, Roy Lee Moffett of Meridian; granddaughters, Brandi Heathcock and Laura Moffett and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
William T. Jeffries

Graveside services for William T. “Jeff” Jeffries will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jeffries, 85, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Oaks Nursing Center. He was retired from General Box Company and loved gardening.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Maiden of Collinsville and eight nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar and Nancy Addeline Jeffries and sisters, Warrene Gibson and Blossie Parkes.
Visitation will be Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bessie Stainton White

JACKSON — Memorial services for Bessie Stainton White will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. White, of Jackson, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in Jackson. She was born on July 9, 1903 in Meridian and attended Highland School, she graduated from Meridian High School in 1921 and continued her education at Belhaven College in Jackson.
At a young age she made her profession of faith at Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church in Meridian and served as church pianist for several years.
In 1931 she married Lawrence White of Newbern, Ala. After moving to Jackson in 1936, the family joined Central Presbyterian Church where both she and her husband were actively involved. She served as musician and teacher in the primary department and also held several offices in the Women of the Church. Over the years, they were also members of Fondren, Alta Woods and finally St. Paul Presbyterian Churches.
Her entire life centered around church and home. She will be remembered as a skilled homemaker, superb cook, loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She especially enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the former Hinds General Hospital for a period of five years beginning at the age of 75. After the death of her husband in 1965, she continued to have a full life until 1993 when her health required long-term care.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Runnels of Byram; grandchildren, Becky Runnels Cain and her husband, Gene, of Brandon, Larry Runnels and his wife, Pam, of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Brian Cain and David Cain, Colby Runnels, Bradford Runnels and Parker Runnels; a great-granddaughter, Savanna Cain; several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Annie McArthur Stainton of Meridian; her husband; brothers, Robert L. Stainton, Gordon Stainton and Joseph W. Stainton Jr., all of the Jackson area.

Ms. Rodgers, 70, of York, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at DCH Regional Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
