Gonolia Joyce Chancellor

QUITMAN — Services for Gonolia Joyce Chancellor will be held today at 10 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Clay Chancellor and Eddie Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery.

Mrs. Chancellor, 79, of Clanton, Ala., died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

Survivors include her husband, Guy Chancellor of Clanton; sons, Jack Chancellor and his wife, Jackie, of Richmond, Texas, Steve Chancellor and his wife, Sue, and John Chancellor and his wife, Susan, all of Clanton; brothers, Lavanace Parker of Stonewall and Terry Parker of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.



Elmon Moore

Retired Southern Railroad employee



Services for Elmon Moore will be held today at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Moore, 93, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in his home. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a Mason. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served in World War II.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Brown and her husband, Glenn, of Meridian, a grandson, Maury Grice of Meridian and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McLemore Moore.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or First Christian Church.



Kathryn Luke Hensleigh

Retired



MACON — Services for Kathryn Luke Hensleigh will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shuqualak United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Shuqualak Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hensleigh, 85, of Shuqualak, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. She was born in Shuqualak to the now late G.V. and Mary Stokes Luke. She was a graduate of Shuqualak High School and received a bachelor of science degree in business from Mississippi State College for Women. She worked as a departmental head for the civilian department of Camp Shelby in the transportation division. It was there that she met and married Jimmy Hensleigh. After their marriage they later moved to the Phillipines and worked for the civilian division of the U.S. Army for four years. Upon their return to Mississippi they made their home in Shuqualak. She was employed by Dr. Pat Gill and later was a bookkeeper for Hensleigh-Tubb in Shuqualak. Upon her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling.

Mrs. Hensleigh was an active member of the Shuqualak United Methodist Church. She was very active in genealogy and had done research for family, friends and strangers. She researched on the history of Shuqualak United Methodist Church and provided the Mississippi Conference with it’s history.

She was an active member of United Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was chosen as Woman of the Year by the Noxubee County Chamber of Commerce. She was a life member of Macon Junior Auxiliary and a member of the Frith Lake Club. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching and playing bridge.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Hensleigh of Shuqalak; a sister, Gloria Luke Tubb of Meridian; nephews, Van J. Tubb of Germantown, Tenn., Ben Tubb of Shuqalak, and Luke Tubb of Wahalak; great-nieces, Katye Tubb and Laura Tubb; great-nephews, Lukus Tubb and Jackson Tubb and two great-great-nieces, Logan and Anna Tubb.

Memorials will be made to Shuqualak United Methodist Church, C/O Mrs. Peggy Etheridge, P.O. Box 154, Shuqualak, MS 39361.

Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.









Edward Lavelle Alexander



Services for Edward Lavelle Alexander will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Strebeck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Alexander, 72, of Duffee, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in his home.

Survivors include his daughters, Alesia Copeland and her husband, Kevin, of Kemper County, Debbie Smith and her husband, Billy, of Philadelphia, Jelene Lewis and her husband, Jeff, of Stonewall, Cheryl Bica and her husband, Donnie, of Duffee and Nancy Marquette and her husband, Eric, of Flowood; sons, Eddie Travis and his wife, of Arkansas, Al Jones and his wife, Mona, of Toomsuba, Ricky White and his wife, Beth, of Florida and Ronny White and his sons, Jake and John White, all of Duffee; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick White, Ronny White, Al Jones, Jerry Cooley, Aaron Cooley and Andrew Cooley.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.



Minnie Lee Adams

Services for Minnie Lee Adams will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fitkins Memorial Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Dr. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will be Okatibbee Baptist Church Cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Adams, 94, of Meridian, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Queen City Nursing Center.

Survivors include her sons, Leroy Adams Jr., Willie James Adams and Alvin Adams, all of Meridian; daughters, Mary Ruth Hagwood and Gracie Rackley of Greenville, S.C., Florene Harbin and Laura Adams, both of Oakland, Calif., Lorene Proffit of New Orleans, the Rev. Dianne Adams and Shelia Nichols, both of Meridian, Shirley Hall of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Jessie Kelly and Robert Kelly, both of Chicago; sisters, Gertherine Phillips and Doris Louard, both of Brookland, N.Y.; 36 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Adams Sr.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.



Carl E. Bernard



UNION — Carl E. Bernard, 68, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wanda Bernard; a daughter, Raylene Hill; a son Wes Bernard; one granddaughter and two sisters and one brother.

MACON — Arrangements were incomplete at Cockrell Funeral Home for Geneva Watt, 87, of Brooksville, who died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Aurora Austalis Lodge in Columbus.

DEKALB — Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Jessie L. Whittsey, 65, of DeKalb, who died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
