Dorothea Cecila Ann Scholtes Gartrell

Graveside services for Dorothea “Dot” Cecila Ann Scholtes Gartrell will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, with the Revs. Rhett Payne and Jack Kern officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gartrell, 86, of Meridian, died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.

Survivors include her husband, George M. Gartrell Sr. of Meridian; her children: John Gartrell and his wife, Kathy, of Guntersville, Ala., Alan Gartrell and his wife, Andrea, of Meridian, Nancy Gartrell of Jonesboro, Ark., and George Monroe Gartrell Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Madison; a brother, Robert Scholtes and his wife, Hilda, of Starkville; a sister-in-law, Flo Scholtes of Pascagoula; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Marguerite Scholtes; two sisters, Marguerite Scholtes Cramer and Mary Scholtes Simon; and two brothers, Joe Scholtes and Greg Scholtes.

The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, Ill., 60601-7633, Telephone, (800) 272-3900.

Visitation will precede the graveside service, from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.



Elwin Blizzard



Services for Elwin Blizzard will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery.

Mrs. Blizzard, 86, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in Meridian.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
