John L. Scott Jr.



Services for John L. “Scope” Scott Jr. will be held Wednesday at 2 pm. at Greater Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donnell Allen officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery, with Berry & Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott, 47, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at his residence. He was owner of Scope Custom Painting & Body.

Survivors include his mother, Ethel Radcliff of Meridian; four daughters, Suetta Smith, Samantha Smith and Jada Wallace, all of Meridian, and Shayla Scott of Walnut Grove; two sons, La Kime Jones and Jontray Conley, both of Meridian; a sister, the Rev. Carmelita Eadie of Meridian; four brothers, Carter Dyson and his wife, Virgie, of South Korea, Robert Scott of Meridian, Johnny Eason of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles Thompson of Redding, Pa.; two grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., at Berry & Gardner Funeral Home.



William C. Sanders

QUITMAN — Services for William C. Sanders will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Gooch officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Sanders, 84, of Pittsview, Ala., died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus, Ga. Mr. Sanders was born in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 17, 1922, to the late William Sanders and Eunice Baughnight. He retired from GM Motors. Mr. Sanders was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Mavis Slay Sanders of Pittsview; three daughters, Sheryl Taylor and her husband of Nashville, Tenn., Pamela Kramer and her husband, Robert, of Miami, Fla., and Connie Carr of Cartersville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Durfy, Ross Drummond, Cory Kramer, Robert Kramer, Brandon Durfy and Robert Slay.



Tammy Lynn Marshall

Tax preparer



Graveside services for Tammy Lynn Marshall will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marshall, 43, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at University Medical Center, Jackson. She was a tax preparer for H & R Block. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Gardendale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. She enjoyed cross-stitching.

Survivors include her husband, Travis Marshall of Meridian; two sons, Craig Peterson of Meridian and Patrick Lee Peterson of Tennessee; her mother, Lynn Griffis of Meridian; her father, David Larson of Corpus Christi; a brother, Terry Larson of Clarksville, Ind.; and a sister, Tina Carlson of Corpus Christi.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Norman Larson.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
