Ms. Warner, 52, formerly of Meridian, of North San Diego County and the Alabama Gulf Coast, died July 4, Independence Day, in Jackson.
She was born in Oxford and grew up in Meridian, where she led the cheerleading squad at Northwest Junior High School and was voted Miss NJH. She later moved with her mother, step-father and three siblings to San Diego County in California, where she graduated from San Dieguito High School in Encinitas.
Miss Warner attended Mississippi State University, served briefly in the U.S. Navy and held restaurant industry jobs in Del Mar, Calif., St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mobile and Gulf Shores, Ala.
After many years living in the Mobile area, she spent the last few years in Pensacola, Fla., Meridian and finally Jackson.
Well known for her generosity, independent spirit and sharp wit, Miss Warner was cherished by family and friends and will be sadly missed. She said she wanted to “love forgotten people,” those with few or no friends.
Miss Warner is the daughter of retired Meridian Chancery Court Judge George Warner and Eloise Comer, a retired college professor and film sales executive and wife of retired U.S. Navy Capt. Scotch Comer; her former step-mother is the Rev. Nancy Warner, a Methodist minister; sisters, Debbie Warner Holstead of Albuquerque, N.M. and Elizabeth Isaacs of Lawrenceville, Ga.; brothers, Dewey Warner of Chicago, Coleman Warner of New Orleans, George Warner of Meridian and Thomas Warner of Landstuhl, Germany, along with several nephews, nieces and cousins, an aunt and other relatives and in-laws.

Services for Charles “Chuck” Hales will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hales, 64, of Meridian, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a retired mechanic technician.

Mr. Hawkins, 94, of Kosciusko, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko. He was a veteran of the U.S. Military and served in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 79 in Meridian.

Mr. Smith, 89, of Union, died Monday, July 9, 2007, in his home. He owned and operated Union Supply Hardware Store in Union for more than 53 years.

JACKSON — Services for Frank W. Halford will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Meridian.
Mr. Halford, 87, of Jackson, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Dec. 21, 1919, in Chunky to the late Wilson Halford and Pearl Halford.
He had been a resident of Meridian since 1943, and was the proprietor of Frank and Kate’s Drive-In for more than 50 years. In 1953, he married Kate Morris and became the father to three children. They had a fun and fulfilling life together until Kate’s death in 1981. After her death, he continued to operate the business until his retirement in 2002. After he retired, he moved to Jackson and made his home with his son Billy and daughter-in-law, Barbara.
Frank enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fly fisherman. He was a member of Oakland Heights Methodist Church, an active Shriner and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the years of 1942-1946.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Billy Burt and his wife, Barbara, of Jackson, Frank G. Halford and his wife, Gail, of Madison, Nelda Porter of Richland; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, a brother, Lloyd Halford, a sister, Doris Christopher and a granddaughter, Michelle Webb.

Mr. Davison, 74, of Ellensburg, Wash., died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in Ellensburg. He retired from Mid-State Co-Op in 1995. Before moving to Ellensburg, he was a firefighter with the City of Meridian for more than 13 years.
He worked for Chevron Oil Corps. and Frank Greens Chevron.
He will be remembered for his great passion of getting on his scooter and going to yard sales. He enjoyed meeting people and talking to people more than the treasures he brought home. He could be seen all over town on his scooter. He was always smiling, never complained, and above all he was loved by so many.
He will be remembered as a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who did not get to see his family as much as he wanted but he loved very much.
