Randy J. Reece



Memorial services for Randy J. Reece will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Lewis officiating.

Mr. Reece, 50, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving son and father.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Reece and her boyfriend, Patrick Widen, of Hattiesburg; his mother, Dean Reece of Meridian; a brother, Larry Reece and his wife, Cathie, of Madison; a niece, Kimberly Rockwell and her husband, Matt and their son, Olen, of Brandon; a nephew, Matthew Reece of Madison and several other nieces and nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde L. Reece.

Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Diabetes Association.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Mary Lou Rea

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Mary Lou Rea will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Fred Britton officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Rea, 88, of Sebastopol, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in her home. She was a native of the Porterville Community in Kemper County and a long time resident of Philadelphia. She had lived in Sebastopol for the last nine years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia and was a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Bettye Lou Smith of Sebastopol; her son, Richard Rea and his wife, Martha, of Union; grandchildren, Lisa Byrd and her husband, Sammy, of Tallulah, La., Ricky Smith and his wife, Sandra, of Sebastopol, Richie Rea and his wife, Brandy, and Chad Rea, all of Union; great-grandchildren, Lorin Hopkins and her husband, Jonathan, of Tallulah, Todd Smith and his wife, Heather, Lacey Ogletree and her husband, Daniel, all of Sebastopol, Meagan Rea, Brendan Rea and Spencer Rea, all of Union, Ryan Rea and Riley Rea, both of Tillabota; one great-great-grandchild, Hayes Hopkins of Tallulah; sisters, Doris Irby of Meridian and Nita Sanders of Pell City, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Rea; a sister, Winona Reetz and brothers, Richard Hall, Pete Hall and Walter Hall.



Col. Robert P. Howle Jr.

Retired



UNION — Services for Col. Robert P. Howle Jr. will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Len McRaney and Marcus Finch officiating. Burial will be in the Union City Cemetery.

Col. Howle, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Alliance Laird Hospital in Union. Prior to his retirement in 1968, Col. Howle served as vice-commander of 29th Air Division, Duluth, Minn., the largest division in the Air Defense Command. He shared in the responsibility for air defense covering all or part of five states: Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan and parts of two providences in Canada.

He was a native of Neshoba County and graduated from East Central Junior College in Decatur and two military colleges; the Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas and the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. He also attended the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Virginia.

He joined the Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet prior to World War II and received his pilot training and commission in Texas. He was a command pilot and a veteran of more than 100 combat missions. He flew combat aircraft from pre-World War II, vintage biplanes to supersonic jet fighters. During World War II, he flew the famed P-38 Lightning and the British De Havilland Mosquito in both aerial combat and photo reconnaissance support missions.

Among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross, six Air Medals, three Air Force Commendation Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal, European Stars, and the French Croix de Guerre with Star. He served tours of duty in Panama, Iceland, England, Germany, Korea, the Republic of China and Japan.

In addition, Col. Howle served on the United Nations Armistice Commission in Panmunjeom, Korea, prior to and following the Korean Conflict.

Upon his retirement, he returned to Neshoba County where he made his home in Union. He was active in civilian aviation until 1995 as the pilot of his own airplane and was a tree farmer and an avid ham radio enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Porter Howle of Union; a son, Bob Howle and his wife, Connie, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; a sister, Billie Bohene, of Cionesville, Ind.; brothers, Wallace Howle and Keith Howle, both of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. and Cleo Howle of Neshoba; his wife, Annie Margaret Buntyn Howle; sisters, Katherine Howle Rowzee and Burma Howle O’Neal.

Pallbearers will be Jack Armstrong, Russell Armstrong, Bob Adkins, Bill Adkins, Marc Herrington Sr., Blake Richardson, Dr. J.G. Alexander and Rolph Howle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Welch, Dr. L.B. Adkins, Dr. Thomas Welsh and Bobby Freeman.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joy Williams Green



QUITMAN — Services for Joy Williams Green will be held Saturday at noon at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Green, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Vaiden on May 3, 1931. She met and married Moody in 1950 while attending business college in Jackson. They lived in Mississippi, Florida, Illinois, Idaho and Texas. She will be remembered as an excellent cook, hostess and gardener. Her home was always open to friends and family in the spirit of true southern hospitality for lively conversation, good food and fun times in the pool. She cared deeply about the environment and was a member of numerous nature and wildlife preservation organizations.

Although she will be sorely missed, family and friends will take solace in the confidant assurance that because she was a believer in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that she now resides in a far better place where the tears and sorrow of this world have all passed away.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Green and her husband, Bill White; sons, Edwin Michael Green and his wife, Fran; Walter “Mark” Green and his girlfriend, Linda Wylie; grandchildren, Michael Green and Kate Green and a great-grandchild, Justin Green; a sister-in-law, Viola Williams and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin “Moody” Green; her parents, Johnnie S. and Alma Williams; her parents-in-law, Eddie and Olivia Leavy Green; brothers, John Clayton Williams and Roy K. Williams and a sister, Kathleen Wood.

Memorials may be made to Seven Acres-Miller Unit, 6200 North Braeswood, Houston, TX 77074, or plant a tree or flower or provide food and water for the birds and butterflies.

Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.



Johnny Boykin

Retired



Services for Johnny Boykin will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Kemper Springs in DeKalb. Burial will be the church cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Boykin, 82, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, in his home. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Military.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.



Ella B. Mosley



Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Ella B. Mosley, 81, of DeKalb, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Mississippi Care Center of DeKalb.



Mario Paul Smith
