William George Maye

MERIDIAN —     Graveside services for William “Bill” George Maye will be held Monday, at 9 a.m., at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton with Rev. Dennis Robinson officiating. Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Maye, 70, of Bailey, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his home. He was a native of Alabama, retired from the U.S. Navy and Civil Service. He loved bass fishing and spending time with family and friends.

    Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Usry Maye of Bailey; daughter, Layna Maye of Washington State; sons: Curt Maye of Meridian, and Scott Mathews of Waynesboro; grandchildren: Brooke Maye, Tanner Maye, Haley Mathews and Caleb Mathews; great-granddaughter, Addisyn Baysinger; two brothers; and, four sisters.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers; and his parents, Raymond and Jeanette Maye.  Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

    Military honors will be rendered at graveside.
