Willie Mae Gandy Myles

MERIDIAN —

    Services for Willie Mae Gandy Myles will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at Stephens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Collinsville with Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Myles, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Madison County Nursing Home in Canton. She was born April 6, 1916 in Enterprise, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Boone. Mrs. Myles worked retail, managing Dixie Herbert Hat Shop in Meridian, as well as working at Riley Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She loved cooking big meals for her family, and gardening and seeing beautiful plants grow and bloom. When it came to gardening, it was often said” she could root a two by four.” Mrs. Myles was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Meridian.

    Survivors include daughter, Barbara Gandy Banks and husband Bill of Madison; son, Terry Gandy and wife Libby of Nolanville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Glynda Gandy of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sister, Mrs. Lula Carter of Brandon; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and, four great-great-grandchildren.             She is preceded in death by husband, Reginald Myles; husband, Paul Gandy; and son, Donald Gandy.

    Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
