Charlotte Johnson Herrington

MERIDIAN —     Services for Charlotte Johnson Herrington will be held today, at 10 a.m., at Highland Baptist Church, with Revs. Jon Martin and James Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Herrington, 65, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Mrs. Herrington taught school for six years for Meridian Public Schools and in Atlanta, Ga. She attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned a master’s degree in Religious Education. Mrs. Herrington helped establish the Baptist Student Union at MCC and worked as director for 18 years. She also worked as Director of Social Ministries for the Lauderdale Baptist Association.

    Survivors include her husband, Wayne Herrington of Meridian; daughter, Lauren Henderson and her husband Alan of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; father, Joe W. Johnson of Meridian; sister, Lexa Johnson Palmer and her husband Jim of Meridian; mother and father-in-law, G.W. and Christine Herrington of Philadelphia; brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Herrington of Carthage; nieces: Amy Palmer Bates and her husband Mark of Leesburg, Va., and Christen Buckley and her husband Allen of Brandon; and, nephews: Brad Palmer of Meridian, Jon Palmer of Meridian, and Conner Herrington of Carthage.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Johnson.

    n lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund, Anderson Cancer Center.

    Pallbearers will be David Herrington, Conner Herrington, Brad Palmer, Jon Palmer, Chuck Dooley and Scott White.
