Joyce Rogers McLean

MERIDIAN —

Graveside services for Joyce Rogers McLean will be held at Magnolia Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at noon, with Dr. Rhett Payne of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Mrs. McLean was a long-time member and supporter of the church. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McLean, age 91, died at her home Christmas Eve in the company of her daughter. Joyce was an accomplished homemaker, educator, and an avid bridge player. After graduating from Mississippi State College for Women in 1943, she worked for many years as a teacher in the Meridian and Miami Florida public schools.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Jordan Rogers and Jeff Davis Rogers Jr., and by her husband of 48 years, Douglas Elliot McLean. Survivors include her sister Phebe Edington; children Douglas Malcolm McLean of Boulder, Colo., and Frances G. McLean of Tallahassee, Fla;, nieces Hilah M. Skewes, Ann Robertson, and nephews Robert M. McLean, and Tom, Jack, Ned, and Max Edington.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Joyce's devoted caregivers Terry Roberts, Ethyl Houston, Louise Burton, Vanessa Gordon, Tashima Steele, Barbara Windham, and earlier, Mary Temple and Pearlie Benoman. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Alzheimer Research Forum Foundation (www.alzforum.org/abo/sup), or to First Presbyterian Church.
