Charles P. Benton

MERIDIAN —



    Services for Charles P. “Butch” Benton will be held Thursday, at 7 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Macon Phillips officiating.

    Graveside services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. in the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.

    Mr. Benton, 68, of Meridian, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital, Newton, MS.

    He was retired from the 403rd Wing U.S. Air Force, Keesler Air Force Base.  Mr. Benton served two tours of duty as a U.S. Army Paratrooper in Vietnam.

    Survivors include his wife, Penny K. Benton of Meridian; daughters, Sondra Wilkins and her husband John of Enterprise, MS, Francine Ortiz of Bailey, MS; step-daughters, Mandy McDowell of Colorado Springs, CO, Sherry Jepson of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Chico Ortiz, Gabby Ortiz, Matthew Jepson, Haleigh Wilkins; Christian Ortiz and Blake Wilkins; sisters, Patricia Callicott and her husband Michael of Buckatunna,MS, Judi Lindsey of Bucatunna,MS; brother, Joe Benton and his wife Teresa of Laurel,MS; step-mother, Josephine Benton of Buckatunna,MS; several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Zeolas Benton, mother, Etta Benton and sister, Joyce Rogers.

    Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.  Visitation will be held Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
