Kathryn Kean Coggin

HOLLY SPRINGS —    Graveside services for Kathryn Kean Coggin will be held today, at 11:30 a.m., at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian with Jim Wall of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Holly Springs Funeral Home of Holly Springs will be in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Coggin, 80, lifetime resident of Meridian, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief (Baptist Trinity Hospice) in Collierville, Tenn., due to complications from a fall. She was born in Meridian on March 4, 1932, and was a 1950 graduate of Meridian High School. Presently, she had been living with her daughter, Patti, in Germantown, Tenn. Mrs. Coggin was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Williams Sunday School Class, the Gilmore Circle, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a life member of the Meridian Junior Auxiliary. Activities during her lifetime included teaching piano, playing the organ, and playing bridge.

    Survivors include her daughters: Karen Coggin Watson of Hampton, Va., and Patti Coggin Harden of Germantown, Tenn.; sons: J. Philip Coggin of Perdido Key, Fla., and John G. Coggin of Meridian; two sisters: Janis Kean Drinnen of Sulphur, La., and Phyllis Kean (Bill) of Meridian; seven grandchildren; and, four great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Coggin; and her parents, J. Philip and Kathleen Price Kean of Meridian.

    Pallbearers will be John G. Coggin, Kenny Watts, Billy Campbell, James G. Coggin, J. Micah Harden, and T. Harrison Campbell.

    Memorials may be made to the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief in Collierville, Tenn.

    Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services with her family and friends at Magnolia Cemetery.
