John Wade Thorpe

BROOKHAVEN —     Services for John Wade Thorpe will be held today, at noon, at Brookhaven Funeral Home. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Thorpe, 62, of Union Church, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Natchez on June 23, 1950. Mr. Thorpe was a disabled Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War.

    Survivors include children: Jonathan Wade Thorpe and wife Lisa of Bogue Chitto, Walter Ray Thorpe and wife Amie of Summit, and Frances Jane Sills and husband Daniel of New Hebron; grandchildren: Danielle Thorpe, Johnathan (JJ) Thorpe, Hunter Sills, Haley Sills, and Melanie Whittington; brothers: Jim Thorpe of Natchez, and Lloyd Thorpe of Richland; and sisters: Janette Tarver of Meridian, Linda Irby of Enterprise, Marina Smith of Union Church, and Liz Haralson of Brookhaven.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Thorpe and Sallie Mae (Twiner)Thorpe; grandparents, Walter and Florence Twiner; and his nephew, Michael Wayne Tarver.

    Condolences may be made to the family at brookhavenfuneralhome.net.

    Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
