William Clark Mayo

MERIDIAN —

    Graveside services for William Clark Mayo will be held Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. DeWayne Warren officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. William Mayo, 60, of DeKalb, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was born on Aug. 9, 1952, at Rush Foundation Hospital to William and Clio Clark Curtis Mayo. Mr. Mayo was an eagle scout and participated in a trip to Philmont, N.M. in his teen years. He graduated high school from Kubasaki High School on the island of Okinawa in 1970. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a major in law enforcement and a minor in accounting. Mr. Mayo worked for the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for a number of years then went to work for U.S. Customs. He retired to his home in DeKalb from Homeland Security in 2007.

    Survivors include his father, William Mayo of DeKalb; sister, Aby Lurline Weaver and husband Gary of DeKalb; nephew, Scott C. Kaderabek and wife Kathleen of Orange, Texas; niece, Samantha V. Kaderabek of Arlington Heights, Ill.; two stepdaughters: Sherry Allwell and husband Daniel of Clarke County, and Salena Foy and husband James of Belle Chasse of Louisiana; grandchildren: Ashley Allwell, Daniel Allwell, Austin Allwell, Aaron Foy, and Tippany Foy; uncle, Sid F. Curtis and wife Carolyn of Meridian; cousin and lifelong best friend, S. Lee Curtis and wife Christy of Trussville, Ala.; other cousins: C. Sue Steingruber and husband Billy of Carrollton, Texas, R. Ann Curtis and her life partner Cindy of Broomfield, Colo., Franklin W. Mayo of Houston, Texas, Barbara Clare Moore of Bellaire, Texas, and Christopher Mayo and wife Marion of Houston, Texas.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Clio Clark Curtis Mayo.
