Mary Evelyn Henderson Cumberland

MERIDIAN —

    Graveside services for Mary Evelyn Henderson Cumberland will be held Wednesday, at 3 p.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Pastor David Chandler officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Cumberland, 84, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Regency Hospital in Meridian. She was born in Meridian on Sept. 9, 1928. She was married to the late Johnnie F. Cumberland in March 1948. Mrs. Cumberland retired from Civil Service at Meridian Naval Air Station in 1990 and was an active member of First Assembly of God Church in Meridian. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and servant to God and others.

    Survivors include by her daughter, Sherri Cumberland White and husband Harold D. White; brother, William J. (Billy) Henderson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren: Michael F. Cumberland II of Jackson, John W. (Wes) Cumberland and his wife Christina of Nashville, Tenn., Kimberly W. Lee and her husband Brian of New Bern, N.C., Jonathan H. White and his wife Britley of Forest, and Taylor C. Cumberland of Hattiesburg; and, six great-grandchildren. 

    Mrs. Cumberland was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie F. Cumberland; son, Michael F. Cumberland; and sister, Barbara H. Harford.

    Pallbearers will be Michael Cumberland II, Wes Cumberland, Jonathan White, Harold Williamson, Irby Lang, Stan Suire, Brad Carter, and Luther Gordon.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be to made to First Assembly of God Church in Meridian. 

    Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
