William Langston Simkins

MERIDIAN —

    UNION - Services for William “Bill” Langston Simkins will be held today, at 2 p.m., at Clarke Venable Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Burial will be in the Mississippi State Veterans Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Simkins, 77, of Decatur, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Laird Hospital in Union. He was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church and The Lions Club. Mr. Simkins served approximately 25 years with NASA, and four years active duty in United States Air Force. He was a graduate of Southern Mississippi.

    Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Sue Simkins of Decatur; two sons: Dr. Scott Simkins of Auburn, Ala., and LTC Steve Simkins and wife Michele of Fortson, Ga.; three grandchildren: Daniel, Morgan, and Will Simkins; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Langston Simkins and Leyla Laird Simkins; and one sister, Carole Morrison.

    Pallbearers will be Cole Harris, Chris Harris, James Harris, Kevin Morrison, Doug Morrison and Chris Clarke.

    Honorary pallbearer is Dick Mayo.

    Visitation will be today, from 12:30 pm until 2 p.m., at the church.
