Memorial services for Don Richard Brown will be held Friday, at 3 p.m., at Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allan Singletary officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown, 75, of Meridian, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Infinity Hospice in Marion. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 21 years as an Air Traffic Controller. Upon his military retirement, he continued his service with the Federal Aviation Administration for 10 years until his retirement from that agency. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and boating at Okatibbee Lake with his friends and family. He was an accomplished artist and guitarist with a specialty in the traditional country and western music. He loved painting, whether it be on canvas or on his handmade bird houses. His family's homes are filled with his artwork for them to cherish and enjoy for years to come. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always enjoyed the company of his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ethel Brown; daughter, Kristi Ford and her husband Johnnie; sons: Rick Brown and Michael D. Brown; grandchildren: Traci Hager and husband Scott, Erin Scharmen and her husband Dustin, Sheree Sheffield and her husband C.J., Ty Ford, Bailey Brown and Spencer Brown; step-grandchildren: Tosha Kimball and Matt Vincent; and, great-grandchildren: Cameron Hager, Kaleb Fisher, Ethan Hager, Kayla Fisher, Malachi Sheffield, Micah Sheffield and Ford Scharmen .
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4415 Royal Road, Meridian, MS.
