STARKVILLE —
A celebration of life service for Douglas Howell Goodwin will be held Thursday, at 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Starkville with Rev. Tommy Temple officiating. Graveside services will be at Memorial Garden Park in Starkville. Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Goodwin, 49, of Starkville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at OCH Regional Medical Center. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, broker/owner of Maroon and White Realty, member of the Mississippi Association of Realtors, member of the National Association of Realtors, sponsor of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and member of the Starkville Academy Booster Club. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman and always looked forward to the annual "White River" trip with his long time friends. He was better known as "Bones" to them and the people of his stomping grounds of Louisville. He loved athletics and all sporting events as well. He was a very proud supporter of Starkville Academy. But to everyone who knew Doug, knew his passion and true joy was being the best father in the world to Will and Jake.
Survivors include his sons: Will Goodwin and Jake Goodwin, both of Starkville; parents, Donald and Anita Goodwin of DeKalb; sister, Debbie Richardson and nephew, Adam Richardson of Starkville; sister, Beverly Goodwin and nephew, Taylor Silva of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Honorary pallbearers are Adam Richardson, Taylor Silva, Steve Roberts, Lee Kirkpatrick, Vance Taylor, Dr. Billy Davis, Dr. Gil Davis, David Haggard, Sterling Dahl, Frank Jones, Van Miles, James Moffitt, Gene Goodwin, Tommy Goodwin and Keith McCarter.
