Kathleen Allgood

NEWTON —     Services for Kathleen Allgood will be held Friday, at 10:30 a.m., at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Decatur with Bro. Scott Engle officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home North in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Allgood, 94, of Newton, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. She enjoyed taking care of her children and  grandchildren, and they loved her cooking. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her granddaughter and caregiver: Maryann (Chuck) Knabusch of Collinsville; two sons: Howard "Sonny" (Kathy) Allgood of Fenton, Mich., and Gerald (Beth) Allgood of Decatur; grandchildren: Tim (Gayle) Marsh of Vidor, Texas, Paul (Amanda) Morris of Vidor, Texas, Katherine (Duane)Holston of Central Point, Ore., Howard (Sheryl) Allgood of Horsham, Pa., Jeff Allgood of Asheville, N.C., Sheri Allgood of Atlanta, Ga., Paulette Allgood of Asheville, N.C., Amanda (Jake) Grace of Clarkston, Mich., and Felicia (Randy) Gardner of Meghan; great-grandchildren: Jay (Brittany) Goodwin of Vidor, Texas, Michelle (Rick) Neill of Anahuac, Texas, Crystal (William) Seigrist of Vidor, Texas, Madeline Morris of Vidor, Texas, Colton Morris of Vidor, Texas, Cody Brooks of Medford, Ore., Nicole Allgood of Chicago, Ill., Aaron Robinson of Meghan, Aiden Robinson of Meghan, and Brittany Gardner of Meghan; and, great-great grandchildren: Logan Goodwin of Vidor, Texas, Kinley Goodwin of Vidor, Texas, Marley Neill of Anahuac, Texas, J'Leigh Sluss of Vidor, Texas, Zachery Seigrist of Vidor, Texas, and Hayden Seigrist of Vidor, Texas.     

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Allgood; daughter, Joanne Morris; grandson, Vincent "Butch" Marsh; parents, Edward and Lilian Stobart Young Holmes; two brothers: Edward Holmes Jr., and Allan Holmes; and, four sisters: Winifred Holmes Erwin, Lillian Holmes, Irene Holmes Hinton, and Shirley Holmes Soucie.

    Pallbearers will be Tim Marsh, Paul Morris, Jay Goodwin, Chuck Knabusch, Robert Gregory, and Wallace Mayes.  

    Honorary pallbearer is Grady E. Gregory.

    Visitation will be today, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
