Martin J. Pogue

MERIDIAN —     Services for Martin J. “MJ” Pogue will be held Sunday, at 2:30 p.m., at Center Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Ervin Mooney and Rev. Jimmy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Pogue, 88, of the Center Grove Community, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was an active member and deacon of Center Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Pogue was an active member of Causeyville Volunteer Fire Department; where he was nominated as Fireman of the Year. He served in the United States Navy and was present in the Battle of Pearl Harbour.

    The family wishes to thank the caregivers for the compassionate care given to Mr. Pogue. They are Linda Brown, Larice (LaLa) Sanders, Laquita Sanders, Lula Rhone, Latasha Tompkins, Alexia Butler and Sheila Jackson.

    Survivors include brothers-in-law: Lamar Catlett, Bobby R. Robinson, James L. Robinson and William Robinson; sisters-in-law: Notie Robinson, Minnie Robinson, Alice Robinson and Beth Robinson; nieces: Linda Rashid, Nancy Dalton, Lori Swancey, Debbie Robertson, Kathy Jenkins, Charlotte Oswalt, Michelle Robinson, Shirley Sanders, Judy Gainey, Susan Quinn, Karen Adcock and Tammy Rademacher; great-nieces: Britaine Davis, Dahlia and Maya Rashid, Kali Brooks Oswalt, Tara Robinson, Heather Thacker, Connie Whitehead, Pamela Robertson, Lauren Robertson, Shawna Jenkins, Lisa and Sherry Gainey, Jennifer Quinn, Kayla Adcock and Madison and Bailey Rademacher; great-great-nieces: Terri RayAnn Harbour, Lille Banard, Miley Swancey, Lydia Sanders and Olivia Gainey; nephews: Harun Al Rashid, Johnny Robinson, Billy G. Robinson Jr., Tommy Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Mike Robinson, Eddie Robinson, Jason Oswalt, Mitch Sanders, John Gainey, Kevin Adcock and Erik Rademacher; great-nephews: Joshua Davis, Chance Dalton, Ty Harbour, Benjamin Jenkins, Christian Robertson, James Michael Robinson, Dylan Robinson, May Robinson, Johnny B. Robinson, Colt Robinson, Dakota Robinson, Johnny Swancey Jr., Trek Swancey, Daniel Robinson, David Robinson, Jacob Robinson, Brian and Cliff Sanders, Memory of Mark Gainey and Eric Adcock; and, great-great-nephews: Noah and Memphis Swancey, Nick and Logan Barnard, Cooper, Lane, and Kade Sanders and Colby and Reid Quinn

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Pogue; parents, Martin Spinks and Nancy Olevia Pogue; sisters: Alice Olevia Pogue and Fredna Ray Catlett; brother-in-law, Jimmy Robinson; and nephew, Terry E. Dalton.

    Pallbearers will be Chance Dalton, Ty Harbour, Harun Rashid, Timothy Robinson, Mike Robinson, Kyle Singley, Johnny Swancey and Jason Oswalt.

    Honorary pallbearers are Lamar Catlett, Joshua Davis, Maya and Dahlia Rashid, Britaine Davis, Terry RayAnn Harbour, Kali Brooks Oswalt. Also in memory of Jimmy L. Robinson and Terry E. Dalton.

    Visitation will be Saturday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and 30 minutes prior to service at the church.
