Larry Johnson

MERIDIAN —     Services for Larry “Sonny” Johnson will be held Friday, at 1 p.m., at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. Burial will be in Concord Methodist Church Cemetery in Enterprise with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Johnson, 64, of Marion, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Specialty Hospital. He was a hardworking man that deeply loved his family, and was fond of spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Johnson also enjoyed NASCAR, in particular, Jeff Gordon.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Johnson; daughters: Kathy Young and her husband Joey of Quitman, Belinda Benthall and her fiancé Ray Smith of Meridian, and Nikkie Knight and her husband Scott, also of Meridian; grandchildren: Amber Johnson, Matt Cross and his wife Alesha, special grandson Rex Benthall, Allison Cross, Christopher Knight, and Donovan Knight; brothers: Buddy Johnson and Bo Johnson; sister, Barbara Davis; best friends to the family: Jim and Tammy Mathis; seven great-grandchildren; and, many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Otis and Annie Marie Johnson; five brothers; and three sisters.

    Pallbearers will be Raymond Flowers, Steven Hoffer, William Strickland, Scott Knight, Ray Smith, and John Johnson.

    Visitation will be today, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
