Jim H. Butler

GULFPORT —    Services for Jim H. Butler will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m., at Butler Pentecostal Church in Gholston. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery in Gholston with Riemann Family Funeral Home of Gulfport, 11280 Three Rivers Road, in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Butler, 67, a resident of Orange Grove, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at home. Jim was born and raised in Gholson. He married Mevinee Rebecca Butler in Mobile, Ala., on March 4, 1967. He was a two sport athlete, a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, and loved his animals. Jim was the district manager for Life of Georgia Insurance Company for many years. His hobbies included painting, animals, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his grandkids. He was also an avid Braves, Saints, and Southern Miss football fan.

    Survivors include his son, Wayne Butler and wife Amy M. Butler of Birmingham; brothers: Jerry Butler and wife Gayle of Meridian, and Ray Butler and wife Brenda of Shuqualak; grandchildren: Dylan Edward Butler, Rebecca Nancy Butler, Emily-Marie Persons “Perky” Butler, and William David Butler II; and, his faithful dog, Mitsy.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Mevinee Rebecca Butler; son, William “David” Butler; and parents, H.H. “Hub” and Christine Butler.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his son David’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org.

    A visitation for family and friends will be held today, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and Saturday, one hour prior to services at the church.
