MERIDIAN —
Services for W.S. “Billy” Kinard Jr., will be held today, at 1 p.m., at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Reid Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kinard, 83, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his residence. He was retired after 26 years of civil service from the Meridian Naval Air Station. He was a Mason and a Hamasa Shriner. Mr. Kinard was an avid horseman and he also volunteered with the Jimmie Rogers Festival for over 20 years. He was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Kinard of Meridian; his sons: Richard Kinard and wife Darlene of Rose Hill, and Bruce Kinard of Meridian; daughter, Cathy Kinard Miles of Meridian; son, Greg Kinard and wife Connie of Meridian; daughter, Kathy DeFranco of Wisconsin; step-daughter, Andrea Kathryn Downing of Meridian; grandchildren: Jennifer Kinard, Billy Mack Kinard and wife Mollie, Fallon Kinard, and Justin Myers, Justin Kinard, and Holly, Jonathan Miles and fiancé Celeste, and Lora DeFranco; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers: Durwood Kinard, and Buddy Kinard and wife Kathleen; sisters-in-law: Lilybel Bounds, Thelma Gunn Thompson, and Carolyn Shelton; brothers-in-law: Jimmy Gunn, and William “Bill” Gunn; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Gunn Kinard; parents, Bessie and Willie Kinard; and grandchild, Natasha Dee Graves.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Hamasa Shrine, Dale Drive, Marion, MS 39342.
