Dorothy Thompson Coats

MERIDIAN —



    Services for Dorothy Thompson Coats will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Rambo and Jim Wall officiating.  A private interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Newton.

    Mrs. Coats, 86, of Meridian, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Golden Living Center.

    She was reared in Newton County.  Mrs. Coats graduated from ECCC and MSCW. She was retired as a school teacher and librarian after many years of service.

    Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Mason and her husband Jerry of Meridian; sons, Dr. Robert E. Coats, Jr. and his wife Eleanor of Conway AR,  William Alex Coats and his wife Debbie of College Station, TX; grandchildren, Gordon Mason, Robert Mason and his wife Leighton, Julie Coats, Alan Coats, Alex Coats and Austin Coats; great-grandchild, Katherine Mims Mason; sisters, Harriett Touchstone and her husband James of Meridian, Evelyn Gates of Meridian.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Coats; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Karl Thompson.

    Mrs. Coast was a member of Central United Methodist Church and member of Williams Sunday School Class.

    The family requests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church.

    Visitation will be held Monday, 1:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
