James J. Rew

YORK, Ala. —     Graveside services for James J. “Son” Rew will be held Thursday, at 11:30 a.m., at Cokes Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Albert Creel officiating. Bumpers Funeral Home of York is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Rew, 77, of Ward, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss. He was born Sept. 7, 1935 in Ward. Mr. Rew spent 33 years in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

    Survivors include his daughters: Yvonne Leach and Patricia Rew-Dunbar of Calverton, Va.; and, JuliAn James Rew-Davis (Jeremy) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one step-daughter, Theresa Dickerson (Mike) of Culpeper, Va.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Murry (Jean) of Ward; and, many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eunice Rew; four brothers: John Harold, David, Lavern, and Eddie Rew; and one sister, Martha Drinkard.
