Texans to be sentenced in Miss. robbery

GULFPORT, Miss. —

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A mother and daughter from Cleveland, Texas, are set for sentencing in a Gulfport, Miss., bank robbery.

U.S. District Judge Walter J. Gex III will sentence 58-year-old Evie Mearlene Herrin and 30-year-old Amelia Darci Crew on Monday.

They face up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the March 26 holdup of a Regions Bank.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/TWn8Mp) Herrin and Crew pleaded guilty Oct. 1.

A federal indictment in Louisiana alleges they also took more than $10,000 in two other bank robberies. They are accused of robbing an Iberia Bank in Kinder, La., Feb. 13 and a Mid-South Bank in Sulphur, La., March 15.

The women had been identified as suspects in a similar bank heist Feb. 29 in Henderson, Texas.
