Former tax clerk admits embezzling taxes

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Nedra N. Wells has pleaded guilty to embezzling over $7,000 from the Moss Point tax office while she was working as tax clerk.

Assistant District Attorney Leilani Tynes tells The Sun Herald the embezzlement took place from Dec. 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.

Wells pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzlement and making false entries.

Wells entered the plea before Circuit Judge Kathy King Jackson, who scheduled a Jan. 18 sentencing date.
