Man indicted on charges of failing to register

OXFORD, Miss. —

A man has been indicted in north Mississippi for failing to register as a sex offender.

The indictment says Arthur Vance Burke didn't register as a sex offender from June 15, 2010 to Sept 24, 2012.

Burke was arrested earlier this month on a criminal complaint and has been held without bond.

An affidavit in U.S. District Court in Oxford says Burke was convicted of criminal sexual conduct in Michigan in 1998 and had a conviction there for failing to register in 2009.

Authorities say Burke had been living and working in north Mississippi.
