JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mental health facilities across Mississippi are making contingency plan for possible closures if state funds are cutback.
Mississippi Department of Mental Health officials say 11 mental health facilities across the state operating on state funding could be closed if further cuts are made to the agency.
Gov. Haley Barbour cut MDMH's $630 million budget in January by 5 percent or more than $30 million.
Officials say the 11 facilities, which include sever crisis intervention centers, operate solely on state money and receive no Medicaid matching funds.
