Man sentenced for child molestation

VICKSBURG, Miss. —

A Rolling Fork man has been sentenced to five years in prison for molesting a girl nearly three decades ago.

Prosecutors tell the Vicksburg Post that William Bush, 64, was sentenced this week by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney. Bush pleaded guilty in January. He also was given five years' probation.

Prosecutors say the crime occurred in 1986 when the victim was 9. The woman, now 36, testified against Bush.

Bush was convicted in 1995 of sexual battery of a victim younger than 14. Assistant District Attorney Angela Carpenter says he was given five years' probation and required to register as a sex offender.

Carpenter says 1986 abuse was not reported until after the victim confronted Bush in February of 2012 after moving back to the Rolling Fork area.
