GULFPORT, Miss. — Portions of the Hurricane Isaac-battered beach in Harrison County could be open this weekend as workers continue to remove debris the storm left behind.
Chuck Loftis, director of the Sand Beach Authority, told The Sun Herald Wednesday crews are making progress and likely will open parts of the beach where vendors operate.
Hurricane Isaac brought wind and rain to the Coast for three days -- Aug. 28-30.
Harrison County is using its own employees to clean the beach and did not hire an outside company. Loftis says they are working six days a week on the beach.
