CANTON, Miss. (AP) — The first criminal trial in the new term of Madison County Circuit Court is scheduled for Jan. 22.
District Attorney Michael Guest tells the Madison County Journal (http://bit.ly/X5O6C5) that Danna Thomas of Canton is charged with manslaughter in the 2011 stabbing death of Jasmine Anderson. Guest says the stabbing resulted from an argument between the two women.
In February, Robert Carson of Jackson will stand trial for capital murder in the shooting death of Jose Ortiz in 2012. Authorities say Ortiz was shot while sitting inside his vehicle outside his apartment during an apparent robbery.
Also Sean Alexander is to stand trial for capital murder in the death of his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter in 2011. Authorities say the child had injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
