Fleming's trial being move out of Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. —

The trial for a man charged with capital murder in the death of a Hattiesburg of gun shop owner will be moved outside Forrest County.

The Hattiesburg American reports that Circuit Judge Bob Helfrich granted a motion by attorneys for Drakkar Fleming, 20, was scheduled to stand trial next week. Helfrich has not selected a location for the trial.

Defense attorneys asked for a change of venue due to pretrial news coverage of the case.

Fleming is charged in the May 28, 2011, shooting death of Edward Cameron at Collector's Point gun and coin shop. Prosecutors say the shooting occurred during a robbery.

Fleming's co-defendant, Gerald Taylor, was tried in February. He was convicted of accessory after the fact to murder. Taylor received a five-year sentence.
