Suspect arrested in child abuse case

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — A 26-year-old Olive Branch man is being held by authorities on $1 million bond for aggravated child abuse.

Olive Branch Chief Don Gammage tells The Commercial Appeal police arrested David Martin on Tuesday.

He says the 3-year-old victim remains in Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

Gammage says the child sustained a lot of blunt-force trauma to the face and other areas of the body.

Gammage says the investigation is continuing.

It's not clear whether Martin has an attorney.
