Union officer in Laurel charged with embezzlement

LAUREL, Miss. —  

An officer of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers lodge in Laurel has been indicted on a federal embezzlement charge.

The indictment in the case says that Bonnie Nixon embezzled $15,981 from January 2008 to March 2009 through unauthorized cash advances.

She was indicted in U.S. District Court in Hattiesburg.

Court records did not list an attorney for Nixon. A telephone number for her was not immediately available.
