D'Iberville child killed by truck on US 90

BILOXI, Miss. — Biloxi police say a 9-year-old D'Iberville boy was hit and killed while crossing U.S. Highway 90 with his family.

Sgt. Darrell Montiforte tells The Sun Herald the accident happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday. He says the boy was taken to an area hospital, where he died about 10 p.m.

Montiforte says the boy was walking to the south side of U.S. 90 with his mother, aunt and cousin. He says traffic in the right lane had stopped and a driver motioned for them to pass in front of his vehicle. He says the boy stepped into the next lane and was hit by a truck.

The victim's name has not been released.
