Drug arrests in south Mississippi

GULFPORT, Miss. — Dozens of people have been arrested on drug-related charges Wednesday in a sweep by state and federal authorities on the Mississippi Coast.

Operations were conducted in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties.

Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adams says in a news release that 21 people were arrested earl Wednesday and others had agreed to turn themselves in. Adams says warrants were issued for 35 people.

Adam says the operation had been planned for some time.

Authorities say most of those being sought are repeat offenders who were either on probation or parole.

Charges range from sale of controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, possession with intent, and an armed robbery that resulted from a drug transaction.
