Sentencing in embezzlement case

COLUMBUS, Miss. —

COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — A 62-year-old Columbus woman has been sentenced to 10 years for embezzling $474,238 from her employer.

WCBI-TV in Columbus reports (http://bit.ly/TZS4JF) that Bernice Lile was sentenced this week by Lowndes County Circuit Judge Lee Coleman.

Prosecutors say Lile worked at Gordman Insurance and admitted taking $800 or more a day between January 2010 and September 2011 and giving much of the money to others.

Lile was also head of the Lowndes County E-911 board at the time of her arrest, but resigned shortly after the arrest.
