School official killed in 4 vehicle Miss. accident

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — A Prentiss County School District official was killed and the district's superintendent injured in a four-vehicle accident in Booneville.

Prentiss County School Board President Ronny Kesler says Jason McKinney, the district's curriculum coordinator and transportation director, died in Wednesday's accident.

Kesler says superintendent Randle Downs was injured and airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. No condition report was available.

A third victim identified as injured in the accident was schools special education director Luke Ledbetter, who was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville. Kesler says he understands Ledbetter's injuries were not life-threatening.

Booneville Police Chief Michael Ramey says the accident is under investigation.

Prentiss County schools are closed Thursday and Friday, and Friday's football game between Thrasher and New Site will be rescheduled.
