ABERDEEN, Miss. — A former Ecru police officer will stand trial Oct. 29 in Aberdeen on federal charges of taking money from people during traffic stops.
WTVA-TV reports that 34-year-old Jody Mac Rock of Pontotoc was indicted in late May and faces up to two years in prison and $500,000 fine or both, if convicted.
Federal court documents say on two occasions Rock demanded money in lieu of writing a traffic citation.
The indictment states both persons were deprived of their constitutional right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure.
Rock has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
