Fla. couple arrested with 244 pounds of spice

BILOXI, Miss. —

Mississippi authorities say police arrested a Florida couple on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after they were found with several garbage bags filled with synthetic cannabinoids, also known as spice.

Biloxi police investigator David Elliott tells The Sun Herald 24-year-old James Dakota Edgar and 22-year-old Emily RaeJean Davidson were stopped Monday on Interstate 10.

During a search of the vehicle, Elliott says officers found seven large black garbage bags containing several types of the illegal drug.

The drugs weighed about 244 pounds and had a street value of about $1 million.

It was unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
