Man facing murder charge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — A 25-year-old McLaurin man has been charged with murder in connection to his girlfriend's disappearance.

Forrest County Sheriff's Office Investigator Nick Calico tells The Hattiesburg American the Wednesday arrest of Benjamin Kade Davis came about as a result of the search for 19-year-old Brittany Crenshaw, also of McLaurin.

Davis was booked into the Forrest County Jail shortly before 6 p.m.

Calico declined to release further details about the case.

He also wouldn't say whether Crenshaw's body had been found, but Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict said he had pronounced no one dead matching Crenshaw's description.

Crenshaw was last seen in the McLaurin area around Aug. 16.

It was unclear whether Davis has an attorney.
