Motorcyclist dies in Highway 19 wreck

MERIDIAN — A motorcyclist driving south on Highway 19 Monday afternoon died after losing control of his bike.

    The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. about one mile north of Walmart.

    The motorcyclist has been identified as James B. Wilson, 62, of Liberal, Kansas.

    Wilson was riding with other motorcyclists when traffic in front of them slowed in a construction zone, an official reported. Wilson lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a collision, the official said.

    Wilson was taken to Rush Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:06, Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobbler said.
