Man killed on I-10 in D'Iberville

D'IBERVILLE, Miss. — A vehicle hit and killed a D'Iberville man as he crossed Interstate 10.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/Qfoy47) 31-year-old Anthony Shane Nelson died from blunt-force trauma.

Hargrove says Nelson and a female friend were crossing the interstate from the south on foot when he was hit by an eastbound Jeep.

The accident happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday, less than half a mile west of Interstate 110.

The female pedestrian was not injured, but was taken by ambulance to Biloxi Regional Hospital.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by D'Iberville police.
